OVERVIEW
Total is the leading foreign investor in Yemen. The cooperation between Total and Yemen dates back to the 1930s. On April 22 1987, TEP Yemen signed the Production Sharing Agreement with the Ministry of Oil and Minerals to develop Block 10 in East Shabwa. Block 10 consists of Atuf, Kharir, and Jathama fields. In 1992, oil was discovered in Block 10 (Kharir field). Situated in the heart of Hadhramout, Kharir field’s production started in 1997 and in March 2008, TEP Yemen celebrated the production of 100 million barrels from Block 10. Currently, TEP Yemen produces 42,000 barrels per day and it aims to increase production to 60,000 barrels per day.

TEP Yemen’s strategy is to recruit, train, and develop Yemeni nationals in order to optimize its local workforce, which is considered to be the backbone of its operations. This is done with complete fairness to ensure equal opportunities for all Yemeni men and women. TEP Yemen strongly believes in expanding its national workforce’s abilities, and for that, Yemeni nationals are constantly exposed to all sort of transferring the know-how by involving them in intensive on-the-job training sessions, assigning them to short or long term regional or international assignments, and offering them international career opportunities.
